Everest Club was established in 1993 as a non-profit organization for cultural and social service provider, especially development of health, education, sanitation, agriculture promotion, WASH promotion, natural economy, social empowerment, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaption etc in Dailekh, Kalikot, Jumla, jajarkot District as per aspiration of Bheri zone region.

    OUR Background

    From the beginning, it has been working to implement sustainable development with primary focus on the deprived and disadvantaged community by qualified, experienced professional and dedicated young hands. Now NGO is working for creation of self- reliance society through improve their (Focused community) socio-economic status. Everest club is working in the area of renewal energy promotion, WASH promotion, drinking water scheme functionality, income generation, sustainable soil management, small irrigation; Marketing, advocacy and networking, empowerment and organization development to creation of self- reliance society through improve their (Focused community) socio-economic status.

    The Everest club, Dailekh gives the high priority in it's all program for gender, environment, sanitation and hygiene as a cross-cutting theme.

    Everest Club (EC) has been implementing the MEDPA program in Jajarkot District as a lead NGO to creation the new entrepreneur from the fiscal year 2074/075 where has the HRDC as a associate patterned of Everest Club. Everest Club had completed the Home Guarding Project (HGP-IV) in four district (Dailekh, Jajarkot, Kalikot and Jumla) of Karnali province of Nepal which was funded by SDC and LIBIRD. SDC and LIBIRD directly selected to the Everest Club as a partner to implement the HGP-IV project in respected District. Everest Club had selected the associate partners to HRDC Jajarkot, RDN kalikot and RDGP Jumla to implement the HGP-IV project.

    Everest Club (EC), Dailekh is one of the leading non-governmental organizations of Karnali province and was established in 1993 as a nonprofit organization in Dailekh District administration office. The Everest Club (EC) was established by local youths with aim to create civilized and self reliance Society. It has been working in various sectors like Social mobilization, Organizational development, Income generation, Capacity development, Entrepreneurship development, appropriate technology transformation, Renewal energy promotion, Sustainable soil management technology promotion, Marketing, infrastructure, climate change adaptation, DRR, & WASH promotion by collaborating with different donors (RERL/DEES Dailekh, SSMP Helvetas, LINK Helvetas, COPILA Helvatas, Live helvetas, LILI Helvetas, LWF Nepal/Nepal WASH alliance, PAF Nepal, RAP, FAO, SNV Nepal, Second Small Town Project, MSFP/IDS, MSFP/SSU, MEDPA/CSIDB, MEDEP, Oxfam Save the children, USAID/HKI, RVWRMP) in 7 rural municipality and 4 municipality of Dailekh District. Surkhet to Dailekh road corridor and Surkhet to Kalikot road corridor is also program area of the NGO for agriculture based marketing to implement the farmer business school and business plan preparation. We hereby declare that all community level activities of the CAPA/LAPA, DRR, Sustainable soil management technology transformation, Environment improvement plan preparation, livelihood improvement plan preparation, essential infrastructure development, community practice in school for learning climate change adoption & agriculture, skill, service and tourism based enterprises development activities are successfully performed by Everest Club.

    Everest Club believes that the basic needs of people are their fundamental rights they are entitled to through national constitution and international conventions ratified by the country. In order to claim and enjoy those rights the people must be organized, empowered and enabled. The claims on all rights must have constitutional basis and claimants must be informed. However, all struggles for rights should be non-violent.

    Everest Club believes that the rights holders must be organized empowered with skill, knowledge, information, and the strategic know-how. Once they are empowered they play the lead role and grow self-assertive in their rights pursuit. This help build bottom -up pressure which eventually makes duty-bearers responsible and accountable to their actions.

    Everest Club believes that the rights holders should be involved throughout the entire cycle of the project. They should have active role in planning, setting priorities, implementing and social auditing. This increases sense of ownership in them and increases sustainability prospects.

    • Enhance equal participation, access and control, and ownership of women, children, Dalits, marginalized Janajati’s, persons with disabilities, and other disadvantaged, marginalized and vulnerable individuals and groups on their basic human rights and decisions about the services, facilities and resources they receive.
    • Increase productivity and improve food security and livelihoods of the target groups through sustainable management of local resources (water, forest, land, herbs, etc.) by developing qualified human resources at the community level.

    • Participatory and inclusive approach: Everest Club Dailekh is accountable for working for women, children, poor, disadvantaged groups, and marginalized and vulnerable people and groups. It carries out its program planning, activity implementation and monitoring and evaluation in participation with its rights holders. In order to transform the condition of our target groups into the desired level and to provide justice to those people, EC Dailekh works with the local governments and other government agencies to include its target groups in their formal and informal institutions and decision-making processes.
    • Community-based empowerment approach: Empowerment is both a means and an end in EC Dailekh’s work with its target groups. This implies consulting the people first, in particular women, poor, disadvantaged groups, and marginalized and vulnerable people and groups, considering the impact of decisions and activities on them and enabling them to fully participate in and own the achievements of these activities. EC Dailekh engages with communities in ways that enhance and build on the competencies and capacities of women, the disadvantaged and marginalized people so that they can engage in their own development, both as individuals and as active members of families, groups and communities.
    • Building self-reliant communities: EC Dailekh believes that community-based development that integrates GEDSI inclusion and social protection approach will enhance food security and resilient livelihoods of the target groups. Improving community-based organizations’ sustainability and strengthening their capacity to dialogue with the government and give voice to their members to claim for their rights will help to build self-resilient community. Similarly, EC Dailekh will support the emergence of local leadership, especially among women, poor and disadvantaged groups. For this, it is important to identify changes in gender relations at the household level and how this has affected leadership and participation of women in the more public sphere in the community.
    • Promoting resilient livelihoods: EC Dailekh will adopt the strategies to build livelihood resilience, which involve diverse livelihood options, such as improving the diversity and security of the target groups’ livelihoods by providing them with more options for increasing their capacities to adapt to climate changes; and piloting for identifying interventions for diverse and sustainable livelihoods of ultra-poor and landless.
    • Rights-based approach (RBA): Rights-based approach aims at strengthening the capacity of duty bearers (the institutions obligated to fulfill the rights holders' rights) and empowers the rights holders (who do not experience full rights or are left behind). According to the new Constitution of Nepal, all the people have the right to live with dignity and enjoy the human rights. People who are poor, excluded, disadvantaged and vulnerable should also have the right to live with dignity and enjoy human rights, for which it is necessary to eliminate the structural causes of inequalities and oppression that cause poverty and exclusion. EC applies special focus on empowering those poor and disadvantaged communities so that they can claim their rights in a responsible manner.
    • Do No Harm approach: EC Dailekh adopts the Do No Harm approach that helps to identify unintended negative or positive impacts of humanitarian and development interventions in settings where there is conflict or risk of conflict. It will be applied during planning, monitoring, and evaluation to ensure that the intervention does not worsen the conflict or the condition of the target groups but rather contributes to improving it.
    • Integrated program approach: EC Dailekh provides highest priority to those programs that are aligned with government programs and also targeted to poor and disadvantaged communities. Understanding the holistic needs of the rights holders, EC Dailekh makes its maximum effort to create synergy with existing programs, and projects and also utilize local capacities and resources. EC Dailekh will also work on linking field-level evidence with policy changes and advocacy.
    • Technical Capacity: With a strong financial and operational framework, EC has successfully managed multi-year projects funded by national and international donors. Notable projects include maternal, neonatal and child health initiatives, climate resilience programs, and economic empowerment training.
    • Geographical Coverage: EC’s programs span all 11 municipalities in Dailekh and extend to neighboring districts like of Karnali province, addressing, and accessing the needs of remote, marginalized communities.
